Irish PR agency &Smyth joins global community of Certified B Corporations using business as a force for good

&Smyth, an award-winning creative communications agency based in Sligo and Dublin, is now a Certified B Corporation. The agency has joined a global community of organisations that use business as a force for good while meeting high standards of social and environmental impact.

&Smyth, founded in 2013 by leading communications professional Gemma Smyth, is now counted among a small number of Certified B Corp communications agencies in Ireland, joining ThinkHouse, Cullen Communications and Springboard Communications

Commenting on the certification, Gemma Smyth, Founder and Managing Director, &Smyth Creative Communications said, “From the very beginning, we have believed there’s a better way to work, one that supports our team, delivers stronger outcomes for clients, and makes a positive contribution to the communities and causes we care about.

Becoming a Certified B Corp is a big moment for &Smyth. It shows how far we’ve come in building a business that truly lives its values and has those efforts independently recognised. We’re proud to work with clients who care about making a positive impact, and this certification places us alongside a global community proving that business can drive positive change.”

Benefit For All

The ‘B’ in ‘B Corp’ stands for ‘Benefit for All’ and those with the certification are legally required to benefit workers, communities, stakeholders and the planet. Awarded by non-profit organisation B Lab, it recognises companies that balance profit with purpose and use their platforms to drive positive change. In Ireland, fewer than 100 businesses currently hold this certification.

As part of the process, B Lab assessed &Smyth’s performance across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. This included a rigorous assessment and evaluation process over the last 18 months to verify that the business is meeting strict ethical, social and environmental business standards.

Chloe Healy from B Lab Ireland commented: “We’re delighted to welcome &Smyth to the B Corp community. This certification reflects a deep commitment to purpose-driven business practices and continuous improvement. As more Irish companies join the B Corp movement, we’re seeing a powerful shift toward greater transparency and accountability. That momentum is helping to build trust and drive meaningful change across industries.”

Purpose Over Profit

&Smyth is a trusted partner to some of Ireland’s leading brands and organisations including Airfield Estate, Bord Bia, Bord Bia Bloom, Certified Irish Angus, Embrace FARM, Food Matters Live, Glenilen Farm, Good4U, JBE Events, Loughnanes of Galway, Master Chefs, MSD Animal Health, Nuffield Ireland, Odaios Foods and Panelto Foods, among others. The agency also provides pro-bono communications services for The Shona Project, a charitable organisation which supports teenage girls in Ireland.

&Smyth is driven by a commitment to make a positive impact on society, local communities and the natural environment. It prides itself on working with clients aligned to this ethos and makes conscious efforts to maintain a low carbon footprint in all activity. The company also offers a Climate Hub resource for businesses which includes tips and guidance on how to engage in communications activity with the lowest environmental impact.
